Spinwell – Weekend Worker’s Revolt – Tuesdays @ 7pm

without comments

For those who can’t make it to weekend rides, Gav has announced a weekly Tuesday evening ride from town at 7pm.

Throughout the month of July, every Tuesday night at 7pm we will depart from the city centre and head out to the countryside for a 2 – 3 hour ride, nothing too hardcore just a nice merry cycle to get the heart and lungs working and more importantly for the socializing! Don’t worry newbies either as we will incorporate a few stops en route for the folks with burning legs and wheezy chests and no doubt a pub stop later on for those who like a sip of the amber nectar.

Get in touch with Gav @ Spinwell for more info.

The Heathens CC is an infomal cycling club that meets up at 9am on the first Sunday of the month outside the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath. They generally keep to a 15mph average and are out for about 4 hours with a cafe stop. Anyone is welcome as long as they can keep up.

More details, leave a comment below and I’ll hook you up with Doug, the organizer.

Brum to Oxford ride Sun 5 July

without comments

Been meaning to do this ride for charity for the past two years, but haven’t been arsed:

Birmingham’s biggest bike ride starts at Solihull Sixth Form College and from there heads along beautiful country lanes across the Cotswolds to Oxford.

At the Finish you’ll find refreshments, music and a beer tent to welcome you.

Start time is between 7:15am and 9:00am. Coaches run from Oxford back to Solihull all afternoon. Entry is £15 (or £14 each for a team of six or more riders), and you are encouraged to raise money for donation to The Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, from sponsors.

Brum to Cheltenham ride Sun 17 May

without comments

Ade told me about this 55 mile charity ride that starts from Cannon Hill Park:

Starting from Cannon Hill Park the route takes you on 55 miles of varied scenery. Once out of Birmingham you’ll pass through quiet lanes to the Roman town of Alcester and on to the “Jewel of the Cotswolds” – the picturesque village of Broadway. A climb onto the Cotswolds gives rewarding views before the sweeping descent into the spa town of Cheltenham and the Finish at the Pittville Pump Rooms.

I’ll be lost in Belgium by then but I thought others might be interested.

Start time is between 8:00am and 10:00am. Entry is £15 (or £14 each for a team of six or more riders), and you are encouraged to raise money for donation to The Foundation for Conductive Education, from sponsors.
